YOU ARE IN SAFE HANDS
CATHERINE DAVIES, COUNSELLOR
I am a degree qualified Integrative-Relational Counsellor and am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework. I am also a member of Hampshire Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (HACP).
As well as private work, I have worked with clients at Solent Mind and Life Changes in Southampton who have presented with many issues such as childhood trauma, rape, work-related issues, anxiety, low self-esteem, low mood, stress, depression, loss and relationship issues.
As your counsellor I offer my commitment to you and your well-being by providing a warm, safe and non-judgemental space. Here you will feel truly accepted for all that you are, which in turn, will enable you to accept all aspects of yourself too.
If you think I might be the right counsellor for you, I would encourage you to get in touch.
"WHEN I ACCEPT MYSELF JUST AS I AM, THEN I CAN CHANGE".
- Carl Rogers, Founder of the Humanistic Approach to psychology.
IS COUNSELLING FOR ME?
Making the decision to see a counsellor can be a daunting one. Many of us find it difficult to talk about what is making us feel unfulfilled or unhappy. Instead, we suppress our emotional needs and just 'get on with it'. This approach can cause distress and pain which may lead to stress, anxiety, depression and poor mental health.
Talking to a friend of work colleague can help temporarily. However, I believe that human suffering is best attended to through the offering of a therapeutic relationship.
A therapeutic relationship offers you time to talk through whatever is on your mind - relationship problems, loss, anxiety, work issues, depression or something else - free from opinion or judgement. As your counsellor, we will work collaboratively, at your pace, to understand you and your concerns better, because with awareness comes choice, we can choose to do things differently.
Whatever you bring to therapy, rest assured you will be treated with warmth, compassion, dignity and respect.
HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER
WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
My integrative training and experience allows me to draw upon a number of successful theories enabling me to support and encourage you to explore your past, present or future concerns.
I wholeheartedly believe you know yourself best, therefore I will not take the 'expert' position, claiming to know what is best for you, but will facilitate and support the work we do together, directed by you and at the pace you feel comfortable working at.
Some of the challenges I work with include:
Anxiety and panic;
Childhood trauma or abuse;
Self-esteem or confidence issues;
Bereavement and loss;
Relationship problems; and
Low energy; Fertility struggles;
Lack of feeling/disconnectedness;
Stress and Burnout;
I offer a private, confidential and safe space from my quiet office in Titchfield Common, Hampshire, providing the surrounding villages of Whiteley, Locks Heath, Park-Gate, Warsash, Botley, Titchfield, Fareham, Hamble, Wickham and Bishops Waltham. Parking and WC facilities provided.

SESSION AND FEES
In our counselling sessions, we’ll work together to better understand what has brought you to therapy and how you would like your life to be different.
Counselling sessions, are very much determined by you and what you need. Sessions are generally held at the same time, on the same day, every week, however if this is likely to prove difficult for you I'm sure we can come to a mutually agreeable arrangement. I work short term with sessions lasting 6-12 weeks as well as open ended work. This is something we can decide depending on your circumstances and needs.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are charged at £60 per session. Fees are payable by a BACS transfer, in advance, or by cash on the day.
Cancellations require a minimum 48 hours notice, otherwise the missed session will be charged at the full rate.
