New Beginnings

Springtime Daffodils

The daffodil symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings. It became associated with new beginnings (and the coming of spring) because it is one of the first perennials to bloom after the winter frost. Other common meanings for the daffodil are creativity, inspiration, renewal and vitality, awareness and inner reflection, memory and forgiveness.

Springtime never fails to put a spring in my step and a smile on my face. With new life sprouting from the trees, shrubs, soil and hedgerows, I too feel ready to shed my winter coat and come out of hibernation. I managed to do just this today when I was fortunate enough to spend a short while at the beach. As I sat amongst the daffodils breathing in deep lungful’s of fresh salty air, and enjoying the warmth of the early spring sunshine on my face, I contemplated the year ahead. None of us know precisely what the future may bring, however with the right support, we can have a much clearer view of how we would like the future to look and what might need to change in order to achieve this.

Counselling provides the opportunity for new beginnings. Therapists are trained to notice nuances that are out of one’s own awareness, they make connections, notice unhelpful patterns and offer a unique, non-judgemental and fully accepting relationship. With awareness comes choice, with choice, comes change.

‘Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly..’

I love this quote. For me it offers new hope, new beginnings, the next chapter….
